My best friend is about to move house so I made her this card. She and her husband are having to move because baby #4 is on it's way and they need more space. However, in order to get the house size that they need for the price that they can afford, they've had to compromise a bit on the state of the property. Bottom line is that although it is structurally sound, the surveyor actually noted on his report that it was was the most disgustingly dirty home he had ever come across. It's so bad my friend and her husband are having to get contract cleaners in to ‘fumigate’ the place before they move in, especially as Rachael's morning sickness means she can't even tolerate being in the house right now, let alone start cleaning it!So, this is a play on words, and very apt in this particular case. To create the ‘shabby’ feel I've stamped all over the cardstock with an uneven vertical line background stamp in gold ink, then I tore some Anna Griffin script paper and coloured the torn edge with gold ink. after sticking the paper down, I spritzed the whole card with Brass coloured Moon Shadow ink. Once dry, I then stamped small keys all over the card and a couple of rosettes in chocolate ink. I then used Direct to Paper technique with the same chocolate ink to age the edges of the card. On a clean sheet of card I stamped the lady in Chocolate ink and then applied yellow and brown chalk to colour the image. Then I cut her out and stuck her to the card using a couple of pop-dots. I then stamped and embossed the two large keys and the lock in gold on the same card and cut them out. Again I used chalks to colour them. I tied the two keys together using a small piece of brown ric-rac ribbon and stuck them to the card using some tiny pop-dots. I then stuck the lock on the bottom right-hand corner of the card with normal glue. Keywords: Shabby Chic - New Home Card Credits?: Non-Sequitur stamps, PSX Alphabet
