Christie, so funny you should mention that! I had a corkboard that I pinned swaps due on the right, swaps completed in the middle then moved them to the left when mailed, then into the index box when received.
The corkboard is still up to the right wall of my computer desk and I still find myself pinning my cards up there out of habit.
I also write mine on notecards right away but I tape them on the wall by my desk (currently have several up). After I mail them I write the date mailed on the bottom & move them to the other side! I thought about the file box but I am one of those out-of-sight-out-of-mind kind of people.
I kind of do the same thing but I print off the page form the board and keep it in a folder. The ones due first are closetest to the front and I work on the swaps that way.

Great idea - I think I'm going to do this too. I started a spreadsheet, but everytime I sign up for a new swap I have to change it and reprint it. This seems much better. Thanks for sharing!!!
When I sign up for a swap, I take out a blank index card and fill it out right while I am at the computer.
I have a little index box just for scrapbooking. In the front I have a section for Swaps Due, another for Swaps mailed. I arrange the swaps due by their duedate (earliest to latest) so I can see which ones take priority.
After I receive my swap back, I file the card in the alpha section under the hostesses screen name.
I also use this box for notes, tips ,etc....but primarily for swaps!
I use the back of the card for any special mailing instructions, hostess phone number, email addy, etc.
