I like the torn edges, but I too think it needs some finishing work. Because of the age of the photos and "time" elements I feel that the crisp edges and journaling is too new and clean. How about trying some distressing and/or inking on the borders.
Ooh, excellently masculine page - manly but w/ lovely touches. Love the colors, torn clock pp & adorable photos. That font really DOES work well w/ your style, & am loving all the other cutouts (cute crab!). Love the group of the "m" tag & stars. I'm seeing some ink around the journaling & photos. I also like the idea of extending the bottom ribbon & adding another one on the opposite upper right corner. I agree that some hardware (a simple metal brad) would be a great touch in the "m" tag; after all "m" is the shared family initial of the men pictured and also stands for "men" so a little emphasis on it would be cool. I also would like to see the other bracket on the right side of the middle piece to balance the LO out. Superduper job overall here, I so love how you made this masculine & pretty all at once!
What about some straight line doodling around the edges? I think that could be just the touch you may be looking for. A ruler, broken lines with a fairly thin marker, maybe a few more stars doodled. I love what you have done so far!
Great bg color! Love the clock pp too and the title block! I think your lo is heavy on the top, so I think you can ( try) put the pp on the bottom and put the ribbon, journaling block and the stars on the top. I love the little crab! Also, I see a silver/white brad in the " M" tag, and the stars -I would use 5 of them and put 3 on the bottom and 2 on top of the tag.The ribbon-you can put it all the way to the journaling block, even all the way to " Written on..." on top. You can also use some staples to hold it down. Can't wait to see it all finished! Great start!
I really love the red in this LO. I think the clock really adds to the LO. Love the rounded corners. i think I would round the corners of that blue strip that goes across the center, and then ink it.. along with the journaling block and the edges of the red cs. I would also add a few more stars over there.. maybe 3 or 4.. to go all the way around that right side. Like brenda said, I think I'd like to see that ribbon come all the way over to the journaling block when you glue down. I really love the look you're going for.
Clocks! Yes, I was thinking clocks for masculine embellishments, but I forgot to mention it. Glad you got my telepathic message. I have and have used that pp, too. I'm loving this page already, but I feel your unfinished vibe. Can you get a hold of some metallic paper and punch out some stars? Then place them either on top of or behind your existing ones for a shadow effect. I think the ribbon should extend all the way to under the journaling block, and I'd like to see another one coming from the upper right edge extending to behind the top photo. I like the mini M tag and the bare hole, but I also wonder how a shiny brad or even a white or silver eyelet might look. I love the journaling and the rounded corners, as well as the title bar and elements. That crab is the cutest accent and complemented so well by San Francisco in your handwriting and that great quote. You could add a little more hardware by making some clock hands in gold or brass metallic paper, and secure them with a brad over the existing clock to give it dimension. Finally, I think inking around the journaling block and title bar could give this a finished look, though I don't know if I'd ink the tearing. Sweet photos, you can see the love.
I need advice on this LO. The title bar elements are glued down, but the bar itself and the crab punch are not glued. Everything else is not glued down. I'm not feeling this is quite "done".
