The story of coming to America.
Philippe and Cécile Couture (Grandpa & Grandma) relocated to Valleyfield, Canada after their wedding. Here is where Aunt Micheline, my mom (Céline) and Uncle Jacques were all born. In April of 1954, Grandpa went down to Rochester, NY for work. He was sponsored by friends of theirs, Mr. & Mrs. Lessard. Here he found work in the construction industry. The rest of the family joined Grandpa in July 1954. Grandma found work at the Flower City Knitting Mills making football pants for colleges.
Their first rental house was on Court Street (the photo on the opposite page). Later they rented a house on Harvard, which was a better location. In 1964 they purchased their first home on Alliance Ave. Grandpa and Grandma stayed there until the mid 1970’s; this is when they purchased a condo.
In 1983 they sold the condo in Rochester, NY and moved to Cleveland, OH. Here they moved into the apartment that was built onto Uncle Fred & Aunt Mich’s house.
Grandma now resides with them in Spring Hill, FL and spends some time with my mom and dad in Naples, FL.

Thank you Aunt Mich for the history!
