WOW! This is such a fantastic layout! I love so many elements here...the muslin, painting and sewing all looks so perfect. Also, that poem is one of my all time favorite child hood books and so appropriate for this layout. Excellent work here! So creative!!
This is one of the sweetest layouts I have EVER seen!! Super job - I just love everything about it - the photo is just adorable and every detail rocks!
This so took me out of my comfort zone! But I LOVE IT!!!!! I had so much fun sewing and putting this all together.
I ironed muslin onto freezer paper and ran it through my printer. I did this for all the pages in my muslin book. There were 6 that I sewed together to make the book. I also sewed denim fabric on the binding of it and used the denim fabric for the closure ties on the album.
The background paper was painted with bubble wrap and it turned out so neat I think. Sewn together on the background is also blue denim fabric and velvet brown fabric. And across all that vertically is another strip of muslin that I inked with tan ink.
The book on the page is MY favorite story to read to my babies! It literally brings me to tears everytime I read it.
The story is by Robert Munsch. I put the book on the page using velcro dots so I can remove it to read as needed.
THE story starts out:
A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she held him, she sang:
I'll love you forever I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living My baby you'll be. The baby grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was two years old, and he ran all around the house. He pulled all the books off the shelves. He pulled all the food out of the refrigerator and he took his mother's watch and flushed it down the toilet. Sometimes his mother would say, "This kid is driving me CRAZY!" But at night time, when that two-year-old was quiet, she opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor, looked up over the side of his bed; and if he was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. While she rocked him she sang:
I'll love you forever I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living My baby you'll be.
