You can hang lights-fluorescent -on the sealing -just for your work area. I can see a comfy chair somewhere in here-may be where the dead plant is, if there is space, with a floor light , so you can take a break. Or George can read a magazine while you scrap:)Or you can put the chair closer to the tv . You have a great space to work with! I can't wait to see what you do with it!

You mentioned fluorescent lighting, but I'm wondering if that's really the best option for this space. It looks like you've got some nice natural light filtering through those windows. I'd consider a lamp clamped to your desk, so that it overlooks your work. Also consider a floor lamp to dress up the place and fill it with more light.
