Printer's Apprentice

This layout is one I did after visiting Furnace Town, a historical village, in October of 2004. The news flyer in the lower lefthand corner is one that I actually printed myself Smile The tags on the right are part of an accordian tag booklet that I enclosed my journaling in.

I made the word "Printer" from dome stickers and alphabet stickers that I painted with green paint and embossed with copper embossing powder.

The copper piece on the right side of the tag was made with copper flakes and diamond glaze.

On the left side of the tags there is a gob of copper embossing powder with the word "experience" embossed in it.

Journaling:
Historical landmarks have always fascinated me, so when I had the opportunity to visit Furnace Town, in October of 2004, I jumped on it. Furnace Town is a historical site dedicated to the preservation and education of how life was in the 19th century. As I wandered the grounds, visiting such places as the Blacksmith's shed, the Broommaker's cabin, and the Woodworker's shop, I couldn't help but be eager to learn more about the way of life as it had been over 200 years ago. Upon visiting the Printer's shack I received that opportunity and more! Not only did Mr. Prout demonstrate a number of fantastic presses, he let me experience, first hand, what it was like to print a news flyer similar to ones printed then. After the presses stopped and the ink dried I had a souvenir and the memory of an experience that will last a lifetime.
