This is from my trip to the Palace of Versaille back in 2001...
Top left journaling reads: The Hall of Mirrors was not only the symbolic focus on the kingdon during the ancient regime, but also continued to play a key historical role. In 1919, the 1st World War officially ended when Germany signed the Treaty of Versaille in the Hall of Mirrors.
Top Right The Hall of Mirrors was erected for the glory of Louis XIV and is one of the many masterpeices in Versaille. It was begun in 1678 when the chateau becaome the official residence.
Bottom: It was amazing to walk where royalty had centuries before. To think that only 82 years earlier a peace treaty that ended World War 1 had been signed in the room.
