I never see a duck that I don't think of the story my father told me when I was a little girl. We lived in the country and one of the things my parents raised were ducks. One day daddy went out and shot a duck for dinner. He was standing on the porch of the house when he did it. When the other ducks saw the dead duck, they ran and gathered around my dad for protection. He never shot another duck and I don't think he ever ate one as long as he lived!

P.S. The goose in the picture really has two legs. Can't imagine why they like to stand that way!
