Good job, sad story but YOU are the real survivor and you great sense of humor!! I miss many things from my childhood as my mother gave them to my nieces as soon as I stopped playing with them and they never survived my nieces very long. I can still see my teddy bear, Andy and a few other toys and wish I had them. I have only my horse Victor and a stuffed cat and I have them as I kept them HIDDEN! I feel your pain.
I am so sorry to read of everything you lost. I know where you coming from and how it has affected you. I send you a virtiual {hug}. May you always have a thirst for knowledge for knowledge is power.
Sounds like a great book. I don't have any things from my childhood except one baby picture and three or four other pictures. How sad. I would kill to have my thumblina or my barbie doll or anything from my past.
What a GREAT picture... this is so neat... I am feeling your loss of all your other treasures acutely though! Although i suppose it is just another lesson that our treasure lies in the Lord and not in earthly things though...
so...your travels and adventures began as a child in this book! how many of the places that you imagined back then have your boots hiked on today? You have kept a true treasure! now about the others, you could do a layout, about the five things you wish mom hadn't disposed of.
What a wonderful treasure that you retained. I, too, have virtually nothing from childhood and neither do my parents. I was a military brat and you just can't hold onto things when you are constantly moving. My Dad's house burned down when he was a kid, so we have nothing of his and my Mom's was always getting bombed so she has nothing of hers either. There are few photos of them as children, either. Possessions were not importnat to either of my parents, but the love of family and the joy and beauty of nature are something we can always take with us. Perhpas that is why we are so drawn to scrapbooking - to preserve those moments and memories for the future.
Looks like a wonderful, well-loved book! Sorry to hear about your childhood treasures ~ hopefully you have built wonderful years of memories since then!
What a great idea-it looks like a wonderful book. I'm so sorry... if I send you some of my stuff and you pretend it's yours, will you feel better??? I'll share!!
This photo is for the mini challenge, something from my childhood. This is the only thing that I have from when I was a child, I don't know how it survived the grand clearance of all my possessions by my mother when at 18 i went to nursing school. i can only think I must have taken it with me. 40 years later, I still mourn the loss of all my "treasures" This book "The Wonder Encyclopaedia for Children" was published in 1933 and was my favourite book throughout my childhood. I have created a collage of the cover and the pages so you can get a glimpse inside. I especially loved the Folk Tales of the Nations and Our Great Universe. Every time i opened it there was always something new to read and went somewhere to satisfying my thirst for knowledge.
