Journaling Reads: “When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over my yard…Brianna sees flowers for Mommy and blowing white fluff you can make wishes on. When I look at an old drunk and he smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money and I look away…Brianna sees someone smiling at her and she, without a thought, smiles back. When I hear a song I love, I know I can’t carry a tune and don’t have much rhythm so I sit self-consciously and listen…Brianna feels the beat and she moves to it. She sings the song with made up lyrics as loudly as she can. When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it messing up my hair and pulling me back when I try to walk…Brianna closes her eyes and flies with it until she falls to the ground laughing hysterically. When I pray, I say, ‘Grant me this and give me that’…Brianna says, ‘Hi God! Thanks for my toys and my friend Victoria. Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don’t want to go to heaven yet. I would miss my Mommy and Daddy too much.’ When I see a mud puddle, I step around it. I see muddy shoes and dirty carpets…Brianna sees a place to sit and bake mud pies, put on mud make-up and worms to play with. If only I saw things through Brianna glasses.”
