Saturday I volunteered at a Ride for the Cure registerring about 100 cyclists (men, women and children) in a 25 mile ride for Breast Cancer Research. My Aunt in the UK and my friend here each underwent surgery this week, so I wore their names on my ribbons. People were very generous and donated money above and beyond the registation amount. Even passers by stopped and made donations. One woman came up and wrote us a check for $100 over her registration fee! Simultaneously, in another part of our county we had a Walk for the Cure and thousands participated in that event. My heart was warmed by the men who had no qualms about donning pink for this event. Someday - let's hope we can beat this thing!
