This is one of my many Utah layouts. I had so many pictures to incorporate and I didn't want to spill over into an extra spread. So this was the solution.

Journaling: The Fiery Furnace Tour is a three hour ranger-guided hike through one of the most AWE-INSPIRING sections of ARCHES NATIONAL PARK. The hike is limited to 20 people and you can only take the hike if it is led by a ranger or if you have a special permit. The reason being, that if you don?t know your way through the Fiery Furnace, you can get LOST. We began our tour with our fellow hikers (including a Boy Scout troop) at the trailhead. As we made our way into the furnace, we saw a MULE DEER alongside the trail. Our guide, DANIEL, was extremely INFORMATIVE and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the importance of staying on trails because of the CRYPTOBIOTIC CRUST - a living bacteria that grows on the ground and keeps the sand from blowing away. You kill it if you step on it. As we made our way through the various canyons and FINS of the Fiery Furnace, we took breaks to look at the various arches and discuss the GEOLOGY and biology of eastern Utah. Daniel explained how arches are formed by WIND EROSION and pointed out the various kinds of native plants like MORMON TEA and YUCCA. We also learned about the inhabitants of the Fiery Furnace, included RAVENS and PACKRATS.
