Journaling: I had always wanted to take the kids to the Pier in Duluth because I had such fond memories of the place from my childhood visits. Like me, they love the water and looking for rocks along the beach, and I figured they’d think that the gigantic ships were pretty cool. We parked pretty far away from the actual pier; so on the way there we stopped at a Mexican restaurant for lunch. Then it was off to the pier. We were lucky enough to see a ship heading out to sea pass under the drawbridge. The kids thought it was all pretty neat... until the ship blew it’s horn and scared the dickens out of them! Hot and exhausted after our visit, we stopped at a Cold Stone Creamery on our walk back to the car. They may have been too young (or too old in Tony’s case) to fully appreciate it, but I’m sure we’ll be back.
