This is a LO about a Weeping Cherry Tree we planted in 2002 in memory of our darling angel in heaven, Rebeka. She was stillborn in 2001, due to many health complications. We took it very hard and decided that this tree would help us remember all the wonderful things about my pregnancy with her.
I cut the pic into strips because I wanted to represent the feeling of my heart being broken apart.
*****Journaling: Weeping Willow. Weeping willow with your tears running down, why do you always weep and frown? Is it because he left you one day? Is it because he could not stay? On your branches he would swing, do you long for the happiness that day would bring? He found shelter in your shade. You thought his laughter would never fade. Weeping willow, stop your tears. There is something to calm your fears. You think that death has ripped you forever apart. But I know he'll always be in your heart.
This poem is from My Girl. In it, Vada Sultenfuss's best friend Thomas died from an allergic reaction to bee stings. So even though this poem is about a little boy, and he was able to enjoy this tree for a time, I still feel connected to it. My tree is a Weeping Cherry. My story is about a little girl and she never even got a chance to see this tree that is dedicated to her. But I can feel the pain when I read the words of this poem and I can picture what might have been if she, my sweet precious little baby, had gotten a chance to enjoy this tree of hers.
Beky, I just want you to know that you are thought of every single minute of every single day. This tree is a symbol of my heart breaking for you. I still wish you were here, but I know that is selfish. You are better off there. No hurt, no pain. I will never stop hurting, but when I look at your tree, I know I can smile. My love for you helped this tree grow, just as you help me every single day of my life. I love you always. Love, Mommy.
