journaling: When I am gone from this earth, I think people will probably consider my passion for music to be my crowning glory. I have loved music since I was a small child. I began studying piano at 5, choir at 8, band on clarinet at 10, private voice lessons at 12, jazz and saxophone at 14... I was involved in every music related activity I could find through school and church while growing up. When I was about 15, I felt God call me to study music in college. There, I learned more about music than I had ever known existed! I studied classical, jazz, theory, opera, musical theatre, music history, artsong, choral music, music business, pedagogy, technique, and so much more. Receiving my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Capital University Conservatory of Music is one of my most cherished accomplishments. Now, my love for music is great, and I also enjoy the rush and recognition of being a performer. However, my greatest joy comes when I am able to give that glory to God. He gave me the talent and ability to learn music and the opportunities to increase in that. I praise Him with music and all that I have in me! I know that my performances will not long be remembered once I pass into eternity, but I pray that the messages of so many of the songs and scriptures I have had the opportunity to give back to him will be recognized through the way I live my life and passed on long after I am gone.
"Music's only purpose should be the glory of God and the recreation of the human spirit." -Johann Sebastian Bach
