This was done for Scrap Pack #8.

The journaling in the pocket reads:

As I remember it…

I remember visiting and thinking to myself “Grandpa sure is mean to Grandma.” That’s always what I thought. Every once in a while, there was a loving glance, or a quick peck on the cheek, but for the most part, Grandpa was a gruff one. Grandma always seemed so eager to please. She still is. Grandpa, however, seemed the opposite and has long since passed away. He had been sick with cancer for a long time. He knew his days were coming to an end. When he finally passed away and we flew to Columbus Ohio for the funeral, I finally realized just how much he loved Grandma. Grandma didn’t drive (she still doesn’t) and Grandpa always took care of everything. Grandpa had always done all the shopping. Well, even after he was gone, he still continued to look after Grandma. Grandpa began to stockpile food for Grandma. It was all dated. I’m not sure if the dates were when he purchased the food, or how long he thought it would last, but he dated everything. The food he purchased is long gone; however, the memory of how much he loved Grandma is still there.

I know it's not your typical love story, but it really amazed me that Grandpa did this for Grandma before he died. Everytime I think about it, it tugs at my heartstrings. You'd have to know Grandpa. :)

silk hydrangea flowers - used as accents.

mailing tags - covered with paper and used for Love/Cherish tags.

Mica - embossed and used under mailing tags.

rolodex card, black and gold photo corners, red satin ribbon painted/embossed and used on journaling envelope.

Red velvet ribbon - ran across middle of page.

white satin ribbon - painted and used on red velvet ribbon

Hemp Twine - painted and used across bottom of page.

2 cancelled stamps and oval page pebble - painted and embossed, used in lower right corner.

Photo turn and fancy clip - used upper left corner (love and cherish tag)
