yes these are real alligators. When the water gets a bit colder, these reptiles regulate their temperature by basking in the sun. And before you ask - no! I did not get out of the car to take this shot. That would be insane. This shot is taken on protected land - part of the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge which is another wonderful place to visit should you come to the Space Coast.
