The journaling is long and reads as follows: Chloe, you are truly a miracle baby. Yes, all babies are miracles, but you took a lot of extra prayers and blessings to get here. Every time I look at your darling little face, I think about how you almost never came to be. You wanted a perfect body, so you waited and waited to come to us. And that is what you have – a perfect little face, a perfect little body and you are a perfect little angel, inside and out!

After Sophie was born, we tried to have another baby right away. We got pregnant when Sophie was just six months old and the babies would have been 17 months apart. We lost it at 14 weeks and the baby was a girl with Turner’s syndrome. Then we got pregnant again later that year and lost that one at 6 weeks. The next pregnancy was going to make the babies exactly two years apart, which would have been perfect. We lost that one at 12 weeks and it was also a girl with an extra chromosome 22. It seemed we were to have another girl, but maybe she was holding out for a perfect body. This is what I kept hoping in my heart so I could deal with the losses better. We saw a specialist and were told we had a problem having babies together. My body was killing off the babies as our blood was too similar. Once we found this out, we were already pregnant again. We had to have your dad’s blood drawn and put into my body so I could develop antibodies against it and not kill the baby off again. Once you are pregnant, these shots are not as effective. We did three sets of them and hoped and prayed. I was put on bed rest for the first three months of your pregnancy as I had a large bleed in my uterus. We were shocked when the pregnancy lasted past the first trimester and I could not wait to get out of bed! During the pregnancy I developed more problems including Placenta Previa, which put us in high risk for problems at birth. Three days before your due date, my water broke and was full of meconium. They rushed me into delivery and you were born three hours later. Since we had done no tests on you during my pregnancy and since we had so many chromosome disorders prior to this pregnancy, we were extremely concerned. You came out perfect and we were so thrilled. Later that night, you had breathing problems and had to be rushed to ICU, but you were fine and we took you home two days later.

Chloe, you were a perfect little tiny baby, only 6 pounds, 13 ounces. I was happy you had a perfect body to live in during this life on earth. We have been constantly blessed by your being part of our family for the past three years. You are a joy to be around and I love you with all my heart. You are the baby in the family and will forever be cherished by all of us for the true miracle you are! I love you, mommy (written April 27, 2005)
