oooo which camera do you have? I have the z760. I used night time with the flash set to the eye for mine. I think, the fire was clear, but the area was very light. Still working on it.

Blurry bonfire pic. I liked the way it looked tho so thought I would share it. think this was the nighttime setting on my kodak easy share camera. took several tries on several settings to gety a clear pic. But...its my first digital camera and is good for trips when I dont want to worry
