I wanted to create a Poem to my children. The poem I have written is meant to help them understand me, my values and beliefs that I hope to instill in them. It Reads: Cornerstones Perfection is so far from reach. Try as I might, to achieve it, It shall always be the unattainable.
Instead I focus on what I know to be, the Cornerstones of what makes me unique.
They are the focus of my everyday existence. These things too, are some days outside of my reach. But striving harder is what I learn. Because anything worth having is difficult to earn.
Focus on Right vs. Wrong, do what you know is right, Reach higher, go the extra mile, Work hard and you will reap the benefits, Quality means more than quantity in every way, Honesty is the best policy, telling a lie never pays, Be a good listener; be sensitive, know when you are needed by others, Be trustworthy; Respect others and their differences, Treat others the way that you want to be treated, Love deep, it is the best gift you have to offer, Have faith, the Lord will reward you for living your life this way.
Perfection, these are not. Forgiveness reigns true.
Accept what you are given in life, however large or small, Enjoy each day you are blessed with, live them each to the fullest. Be thankful for the Lord, and what he has done for us, Because it is that which no other can, To forgive us, for the sins we have lived, And bestow upon us Eternal Life.
