Title: In 1912 she chose me over fame
Hidden Journaling behind photo: I don't know if my great-grandmother Josephine Irene Gottfredson Brower had any idea the impact she would make on generations to come, but to me, she is one of the most admirable women in history.
She had planned on going to Europe and study to become an opera star, but she met a man . . . she says, "It's a funny thing, when you fall in love it's just too bad for careers or fame or anything. I fell hard." Instead of studying in Europe, she married and started a family.
She never regretted the decision, in fact, she says, "I haven't been sorry at all. I married a wonderful man. We have a nice family and I haven't had to give up one portion of my music because my Church has given me a chance to continue on and I have been able to oexpress all my inward emotions and talents by the work I have been privileged to do in my church. I look back now and see what I might have done and what I did. I know the Lord has taken me by the hand and safely guided me through."
How grateful I am that she made a decision that impacted my own existence. She made that decision out of love with no regret for what she gave up. Josephine taught me a lesson of love . . . perspective . . . priorities . . . family importance . . . balance . . . from just one decision that she made in 1912.
