Love it! I was about to recycle some old empties a few months ago, decided to search for ideas, and found this. Made mine this weekend after digging through my supply stash,, with felt scraps for scarves, bits of craft foam for mouths and noses, and adhesive pearls/gems for buttons and eyes. I was going to try hats the way you did them but couldn't find the caps, so I'm going to cut up some socks and add pompoms from the kid's craft drawer. Thanks for the wonderful idea!
Thanks for all your comments! No, I didn't paint them white. When I removed the label to recycle my empties, I found a perfect, unmarked white container that reminded me of a snowman. The only painting I did was spraying the lid (which was blue) and the sprinkler cap (which was white).
I made these using empty Gerber Puffs containers and scraps of ribbons and orange vellum. The tops of the hats are sprinkler caps that I found at the hardware store, which is the only thing I had to buy. The eyes, mouth and buttons are drawn on with a slick writer.
