I rather enjoy ironing.....I even like to iron my tea towels. The real kind... not the terry cloth kind that are so common now, but the old fashioned muslin ones. I have a set that my mother embroidered for me...one for each day of the week....I love to stack them all clean and crisp and freshly ironed in the drawer.....Maybe I am a tad ecentric.
Okay, it seems like I am alone in the world of people who iron. I iron almost every evening. I grew up in a home where we would iron jeans, sweats, tees, pants, everything. My dad would always say, "Just because we are poor doesn't mean we have to look like it." I never understood this because one has nothing to do with the other. After marrying my DH (a non-ironer) I have relaxed a bit but my parents have rubbed off on my DD. Now she will tell me, "mom, you need to iron my dress, I look sloppy." The vicious cycle continues.
boy you have company on that one, I heard a woman say the other day "I own an iron and I am so ashamed to admit it." her friend said; "I got one as a wedding gift and it has never been out of the box." Hmmmmm. Sorry, I don't mind it. DON'T THROW ROTTEN FRUIT AT ME, Please.
I'm with you on that one, there a satisfaction to sending dh off to work in a starch pressed white shirt, but thankfully his current job does not require that often!
definitely mundane. Oddly I enjoy ironing. I feel like super domestic diva when I iron ( I do it rarely) and that gives me a sense of pleasurable pride.
I hate it too. It's pointless, since the shirt/pants/whatever-it-is-that-you-have-to-iron will be wrinkled again in 5 minutes flat after you put it on.
Hee-hee -- great take on the challenge :) My Mom used to iron all the time when I was growing up, but I only do it if absolutely necessary and then, it's always at the last minute before heading out the door! Great shot - TFS :) -- kimB
