Went on a little photo shoot today, out to west Anchorage and took some shots during sunset.

THis photo was taken from Earthquake Park and looks northeast toward downtown Anchorage and the Chugach mountain range behind it. The pinkish cloud above is a blanket of fog. The body of water is Cook Inlet.

Earthquake Park is so named because of the devestating earthquake that occured on Good Friday, 1964. Most of this coastline shown here was orginally known as "Turnagain Heights" consisting of several subdivisions. This area was built on clay, which basically turned to jello during the shaking and slid into the inlet. If you're interested in reading more about the earthquake, here is link:
