Phil's memorial service was held at our church this evening (Dec 15) and - as memorial services go - it was lovely. It was more than lovely, actually, it was wonderful! Tears, laughter and many testimonies about how Phil - and the Lord - worked in the lives of those he met. Some speakers had only met him once. Others had known him a lifetime. The rest of us were somewhere in between. GOD got all the glory, which is what Phil would have wanted, as he hated the attention or spotlight to be focused on himself. Phil considered himself to be a "tool of GOD" - to be used when, where and how GOD chose to use him. We learned tonight that one of Phil's heart's desires was to die a martyr - to give his life for the sake of serving Christ.

GOD answered that prayer and in so doing, released this amazing young man to reach more lives than he could have imagined. He is a missionary - even in death. Because of his death. And because Christ was alive in him.

The journaling on the right side of the flyer was originally written by Phil - in German - and was translated by a friend of his. It reads:

"Weiter Machen Und Kopt Hoch"
"Move On, Move Ahead & Keep Your Head High"

"Loyalness and truth is always what I stand for.
Honor and Honesty!
I am content with all circumstances in my lfe to the utmost of everything within me to serve Jesus Christ and also to the lost I will make Him and His love known!
I will run the Good Race as a good soldier of Christ to never give up and to remember constantly He is with me even until the end!
My home is not here...on earth...I have not arrived until I see the face of my Lord Jesus Christ saying, "Well done good and faithful servant."
Press onward casting every hinderance aside and making known the Gospel of Christ Jesus and His Eternal Love for all.
And live a life that would reflect Him!

Philip Crouse; Dec 2, 2006"

**This is a panoramic shot consisting of three separate photos. The flyer really does open up like this, but a single photo was too hard to see clearly.
