I love when a Layout has a story behind it. It makes the pages have so much more meaning and later when you look at that layout it will bring you back to that moment. It is beautiful - the story, the colors and the school photo. It is very special
LOL! Oh, Lenore I really enjoyed your journalling......and yes!.....I can relate! Fabulous pic of James....he looks so grown up in this pic *SIGH*, and very handsome. This is a really special page that you will all laugh over in years to come.
LOL I love this. My dd decided to have her hair in a ponytail and headband for picture day. She is in 2nd grade and has beautiful red hair. I bit my tongue and did her hair. When the pictures came back her comment was: "Where is my hair?"
Hmmm, no one else has admitted to doing the same...I'll admit it. My DD did this, at about the same age, and I reacted the same way you did. I'm over it now but I still cringe at some of her older photos.lol. Anyway, besides the great story, this is a really nice lo and your son looks pretty good. (atleast he smiled, my kid didn't even do that!)
Fantastic layout, Lenore! Your journaling is great! Love the title, the pp's, and the design! That photo of James is great- what a sweet smile! Only a mom would notice the jacket lol! TFS
Fabulous journaling Lenore, it brought a smile to my face! Not to worry, regardless of the fleece jacket, his school photo turned out fabulously!! What a smile!! You scrapped this beautifully, love the title work and the circles (especially the one wrapped around the pic), and the stars are too cute! Gorgeous page!!
LOL...(so much) you are such a mother....aren't we all! This is such a wonderful story - love the title. I am so glad you scrapped it this way. It's a great photo Lenore....look at that smile. Well done Mum!
As a teacher, on picture day..parents dress their kids up and I have "fought" with those kids to take off the jackets, sweaters, etc...so the pretty clothes can be seen. LOL
I loved the layout and the story. I can relate!!
ONLY a mother would notice the jacket!!! LOL The picture is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! He is such a handsome young man....love the design of this and the pprs are absolutely perfect!
Great story and layout! Get used to it Lenore! This is a great "school" pic! You should see some of the ones I have of my three boys! Sarah, always the little lady, always had great pics! But the BOYS!!!! Usually, it was the hair - looked like they got straight out of bed and went to school!!! LOL! Totally understand where you're coming from - it's just a mom thing!!! Enjoy it!
LOL -- I feel you on this one. My son is in the first grade and is the SAME way :) Cute LO. This will be appreciated by him when HE becomes a parent. Until then... you will probably look crazy to him. Great job!
I realize that this is not the typical school picture layout, but there was a story to be told and I couldn't resist! It's more a story about being a Mom....maybe there's someone out there who'll identify with this, or maybe you'll all think I'm crazy! In either event it helped me to do this LO, and laugh at myself!
The journaling hidden under the photo reads: I know I shouldn't have reacted the way I did, but I couldn't help it. Why on earth would you wear your fleece jacket in your school picture? At first glimpse, I couldn't believe my eyes! I said, "James, why are you wearing your jacket??" You simply looked up at me and said, "Mom, I ALWAYS wear my jacket! I never take it off at school!" Ah, now the fog was beginning to lift. Your sister bought you that jacket and you love it almost as much as you love her. I laughed and said, "Oh James, don't tell me you're turning into one of THOSE nerdy boys!! I used to go to school with boys who never took their jackets off all day long!!" To that comment you just shrugged. I guess you're just too young yet for it to hold much meaning.
I tried to explain to you that Mom had chosen a shirt I liked for you to wear in the picture, so that IT WOULD SHOW. Again the lesson seemed to fall on deaf ears. OK, maybe 1st grade is just too young for all of this to sink in. I should be grateful that the picture is TERRIFIC and that your hair at least looks combed, which is an improvement over last year! Dad has me convinced that I should back off and stop being "such a Mom"! I'm trying, I really am!! I'm so proud of my boy, my very bright 1st grader!! The fashion lessons can come later!
