This was just a page I made to depict how devastatingly cold it was. The 50 ft pin trees on in the picture completely bowed over. It was a site to see this and is hard to describe the devastating the ice caused. Trees on house, one went through our roof, power lines down and the roads blocked with the power lines or trees. The power lines were so heavy with ice that they bowed with the weight and you had to duck to walk under them. Ironically the Sunday before our power went on it snowed, it snowed the most beautiful snow I think I have ever seen. The flakes were gorgeous and huge and everything stuck but we were so weary from no power that seeing anymore cold stuff was more than we could stand but I so would have enjoyed it otherwise. When we went to bed we left all our clothes on that were layered on us, 3 pairs of socks, long underwear, two shirts, pants, hats, gloves, coats. You would crawl under the covers and could feel the cold permeate your body. Three of us would get in the bed to try to get each other warm. You finally did get warm but you didn't want to get out. The pillow would be so cold that you didn't dare move your head. I tried to make this page depict the darkness that we felt that first night when the entire town was black and without electricity. You could sit outside and hear the sounds of branches and trees breaking under the weight of the ice and snapping the power lines. You could hear the explosion of the power line and see the bright light. It sounded like a war zone and was very eerie.
