Birth announcement for Connor...his dad, George, is a good friend of ours and he wrote the journaling on the left. It was the e-mail we received announcing his birth. He is a police officer so that is why the hours are in military time.
The journaling (e-mail) is:
He’s Here!
Connor Steven Luskey was born on 03-03-05 at 0309 hrs. He weighed in at 8.5 pounds and is 19 inches long.
Let me give you a quick run down of the night’s events:
1700 hrs) Shelly’s water breaks. Get overnight bag and drop off Emily at
grandparents.
1800) Arrive at the hospital.
1900) Try to find hockey tourny on TV.
1901) Can’t find the game. Go to McDonalds and eat. Pickup a subway for
Shelly.
1930) Find game on the TV. Doctor says it’s going to be a long night
since contractions haven’t started yet. (do I really need to be here then?)
1935) Shelly says yes I have to be here.
2000) Nurse tells Shelly to walk around to try and get contractions
going. I explain to the nurse that I must stay in the room for the game. Nurse
and Shelly give me a dirty look.
2001) Walk around hospital with Shelly for 45 minutes.
2100) Find out that Shakopee lost the hockey game. Watch CSI NY.
2200) Watch the news. Shelly complains of some back pain. I tell her my
legs hurt from all the walking.
2300) Nurse hooks up the Pitossin to start contractions. (couldn’t I have
went home at 1900 hrs and came back now?)
2330) Try to get some sleep.
0100) Contractions finally start. Shelly complains of more pain. I tell
her my ass hurts from sitting all night.
0101) Shelly throws a roundhouse punch that misses.
0130) Doc puts the epidural in... bye-bye pain.
0200) I get some munchies to eat and watch the movie “Dave”. Shelly
sleeps. (hmmm, I could use a beer with my munchies)
0230) Contractions are stronger now and Doc is paged.
0259) Shelly starts pushing. I still need a beer.
0309) Connor is born! I have a son!
0430) I return home and have a beer.
