The Stockings Were Hung

When I bought this house, I fell in love with the fireplace mantel that stretches across the family room. It makes it difficult to layout the furniture in the room because of door placement, etc. But even if we redesigned the house, I’d want to keep the mantel!

Even though it was summer when I moved in, I knew that it would be a great place to display the snowmen, Santas and nutcrackers that I make/collect. Each year at Christmas I really enjoy decorating the mantel. When I take the decorations down after the holidays, it looks so bare in comparison!

I want to add journaling to this, probably around the edge of the photos. But my handwriting is so poor, that I think it could ruin it. So I’ve been afraid to put pen to paper!!

The tree is “the boys” tree. They decorate this one. And this is the one that Santa leaves gifts under. We also get a fresh tree for another room. That tree is “my” tree. It holds ornaments that were handmade, special gifts, or mementos. I’m going to try to create a layout about that tree too.
