I crumpled the mat & used my mini mister to wet it a bit to make that a little easier- then I rubbed the ink pads over it & spritzed a little more
the Happy birthday is embossed in copper ep and the mat behind that is sheet metal that I hammered with the ball end of my eyelet hammer & swiped with green stazon ink :)
