SHCG: Sharon, sorry this is critique isn't the most timely, however.... I adore this card. Are the letters handcut? They are fabulous! I love the colors, the inking, and the stitching. The whole thamned ding is amazing. Love it!
SHCG: I love this just the way it is. Simple and adorable. I agree with Jess about using thread on the button so it looks sewed on. Would add to the feel that it's winter clothing. I persoanlly like the white space, but if you feel it needs something you could try a very light spritz with red glitter spray maybe. It would be subtle, but also bring in more red.
SHCG: The fact that you cross-stitch is amazing to me. I have major issues with sewing. totally love the colors on this. I like the idea of clear embossing the title maybe just even the top of it to give it an icicle look. I like brenda's idea of adding some red to the button too.
SHCG: What a good idea! To cross stitch on a paper project, looks great. The colour of the writing really goes well with the light blue and i love the font. For some reason it says christmas to me.
SHCG: This is beautiful the way it is! I love the light blue with the red and white! Love the font and the stitching-makes me think of winter coat! Only suggestion -red thread on the button. Great card!
SHCG: OMG, Jess and I are on the same page with this one. I love this card for all the same reasons. I also think the title font has a great whimsical feel. I suggest red thread for the button. I know those silver star sequins you write of, and I can see them just above the leftmost arm of the bottom W and to the lower right of the second S. That's it. And that cross-stitching looks like it took forever.
SHCG: I LOVE all of the silver outlining everything. Love the silver dots that tie into the whole thing on the red letters in the title. I love, love, love the cross stitching you've used. I wouldn't add a thing. I, personally, like the white space. If you really wanted something extra, you could draw/make some little white snowflakes on the light blue paper. The one thing I would add is some thread inside of the button. Just to help it look like it's sewed on there. Lovely card!!
This is my response to Nitzza/Denitza's "Sew Much, Sew Little" challenge to use stitching on a project for the Original Scrap Happenzz Critique Group. It took forever to get a scan I didn't hate - our scanner's dirty, the card wouldn't lay flat 'cause of the button's dimension so the edges kept getting cropped, C'est la vie...
I poked holes in my cs (using Aida cloth as a guide) then cross-stitched! I used to love cross stitch but haven't done it in years, it was great to combine two beloved hobbies.
I like this card & I'm proud I tried something new (never stitched on paper before) but this isn't my fave. I made the silver edging kinda uneven like a layer of ice, & make the stitching/button like winter clothing, but I'm not sure if that comes across. My needle broke when the stitching was half done & I only had a larger needle to finish up w/ (which led to bent paper on the upper left). I tried to jazz things up by seeing how silver star sequins scattered on the white part looked; they were too busy & distracting looking. I tried to think of something subtle to add, maybe using a Versamarker & clear emboss the title? I don't know, what do you think? Everything's glued down so I can only add stuff at this point...
