My grandparents in 1949.

Journaling: There is no doubt Nan and Pop love each other. Growing up, I saw that love in the way they took care of each other, laughed with each other, and even bickered with each other. But it wasn’t until I saw this picture that I understood how deep their love is. I can see the roots of it in this private moment; two lovesick teenagers, passionate for each other. It’s just a glimpse into the love that has been through trials and tribulations, heartache and overwhelming joy, death and new birth, and eventually grew into our family. Fifty-six years later, Pop no longer picks Nan up and spins her around, but he does make her coffee every morning. I have never seen Nan leap into Pops arms, but she never fails to tell him that she loves him when he leaves the house. I may not have been witness to their love in 1949, but I know that I am blessed to be a part of it today.
