Journaling: Ice storm, February 2003. The lights went out while we were attending Sunday service. When we got home, we took our flashlights, candles, and card games out. By suppertime, still no power. It was quiet, eerie, and dark inside and out. Power came on for a few hours through the night, but went out again by breakfast. Kids and I stayed home, and tried to keep ourselves warm and busy. Power was finally restored on our street by Tuesday afternoon. These are pictures from our backyard. We lost a few trees, but the devastation around the city was monumental.
