This lo was done for a challenge on another site- you were to include a letter to someone. I wrote a letter to my five year old grand daughter- reminding her that she is my "Hero." Almost a year ago- she, at then age four- told her parents that she was being sexually molested at her day care. This took so much courage on her part and I am so proud of her. Not only did she stop what was happening to her- but possibly saved other children from being abused. I am so thankful that she is doing well thanks to counseling and lots of love.
I still have so much anger inside concerning what happened to her- and eventually I hope to do a couple layouts addressing those feelings.
To all you parents and grandparents- don't assume your children are safe. My grand daughter was in the care of good friends of my Son and DIL- people they had known for 10 years. Thier 17 year old son was the abuser. Please- talk to your children, keep the lines of communication open. It is a topic we don't want to think or talk about. But it is so important. Thanks for letting me share- this is still so emotional for me.

My Dearest Marissa,

I don't even know where to start to tell you how very proud I am of you. You have come so far this last year and I feel such joy and happiness to see that we are finally getting our beautiful, spunky and happy Marissa back. When I think about what you did- I am still in awe. I am so thankful you had the courage to speak out and tell your Mommy and Dad that you were being sexually abused at day care. It took so much courage and bravery for you to tell. You not only protected yourself but also many other children. You are definatel a "Hero". Very few people ever become heroes, especially at the age of four years old! This means you are very special! And don't you forget it.
I love you so much and don't forget... Grandma will always be here for you.
