Aha, the prize-winning bird feeder! Glad you posted this - bet a lot more birds are going to be singing happy songs now 'cause more people are going to be scraplifting this idea.
Wow, great job!...This looks like something that could be put in any number of magazines (for ex, Scrapbooking, MStewart, Family Circle, CountryHomes, Arts&Crafts etc!)
This was something I did awhile ago (March 2007) for a Prima altered items contest. It got a first place award. It was easy to make and used mostly recycled materials, so it is very "green" as well. Description on how to make is provided below: Paint the ribbon spool and CD. Drill small holes into the spool base and insert twigs. Cut off the top and bottom of the water bottle and then cut small notches on one end to allow the seed to flow out. Glue the bottle to the base, lining up the open notches with the twigs. Glue the CD to the underside of the top of the ribbon spool and then add a hook into the top of spool. Finally, add embellishments (moss, bark, flowers) and fill with seed. Neighborhood birds will love you!
