SHCG: Copying my comments from the opposite page, but adding that I still cannot believe this is only cardstock. It looks great! Sharon! I love this. I would have never known that you didn't use patterned paper! It in no way looks like only cardstock. Fabulous job of rocking the challenge. I am totally digging your little tidbits of information that are on the strips. What great memories! I always adore your journaling touches and this time is no exception. The gold paint on the edges really set the pictures apart from the cardstock and add a beautiful guilded touch. Pomp and Circumstance-ulous!
SHCG: I love those stamps in the upper right corner. They make the whole page for me. Those little beads are awesome and I think could be used more throughout this page. Beautiful double-page layout.
SHCG: You put a ton of work into this spread with the crackle paint, Mod Podging, and decoupage finishing! I like the timeless look that the cherish and clock stamps add to the page. I also like how the featured photo gets its due attention with the copper beads and the three square brads. Definitely a proud moment. What an incredible memory about the sandwich saving the diabetic grad! Just how exactly is "Kkkhee!" pronounced? Please see my suggestion on the other page.
SHCG: I LOVE this page! I love the paint, and especially the crackling effect. Love all of the cold ink on the journaling strips and title. Love the stamps (I had to look twice because I thought it was a pattern already on the paper). On this page I really love the seed beads, I would love to see it in person. BTW, you did an awesome job fixing up that picture! in the end, it was worth all of the trouble you went through!
SHCG: You totally rocked this challenge and I love what you did with crackle paint and seed beads. I am going to suggest two little thing, I am doing this mainly because it is YOU! You are a detailed, labeling, dating, fanatic. I can't find a date. You should put the date on here. The only other thing is on the first page, scoot the top journaling strips a bit to the left to create a margin on the right. I love that you included what the text message said.
SHCG: Sharon, this 2 pager is beautiful! Great answer to the challenge! I love (as usual) Your use of multiple photos & journaling. The gold with the beading is the perfect touch for this lo and your brad placement perfect! I tried to think of something to change but cant, probably because its great as is!
This is one side of my response to ~Alma Scrapera~/Nitza's “Cardstock, Cardstock, Cardstock” challenge for Scrap Happenzz Critique Group to not use patterned paper & focus on cardstock technique. This right page looks a little weird without the left one next to it; just try to visualize the smaller pics making film strips across the top & bottom of the 2 pages that lead to the 5x7 of my hubby graduating from grad school. The right margin cuts off in the scan.
I stamped the background & matted the photos in crackle paint. Since the photos have a glossy nonporous surface & I forgot to sand the edges prior to painting, the paint started crackling off. So I had to seal it in w/ decoupage finish. I also inked the paint mattes w/ gold ink & added gold/coppery seed beads around the big pic; the bling factor of the gold ink, beads & brads doesn't come across as nicely in the scan as in person. I Mod Podged the title & journaling strips, to add shine & contrast. (I also ended up spilling paint & decoupage finish, having to retouch & reprint a photo TWICE but we won't talk about that, grr…)
This LO chronologically comes before my “You Are My Hero” LO, in which you can see a better pic of my sweetie graduating - http://scrapbook.com/galleries/41507/view/1084409/-1/20/1.html. Also, this page is a lift of Kim Collee's “Dream Come True” page (Scraptivity's Notions newsletter & website).
Journaling: - “Greg's graduation from Fordham's Graduate School of Social Work was held at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center. - Many fun memories! I was Viddy-ing & Digi-ing, & later passed along camera duties to Michael, who had closer seats w/ Charlie & Barbara. - We found Shelly, Patty & Jeff via cell calls w/ Greg & fellow grad/family friend Marci. - ‘I forgot my tassel & everyone's wearing one!' - ‘What does Greg want now, juice?' - When I saw Greg & Marci, I got all misty w/ pride; Shelly got misty too! We cheered ‘em both. - Text messaging to Greg after he walked across the stage: ‘Congrats Bub!' Answer: ‘Kkkhee!' - ‘Mom, you're like the paparazzi!' - Greg had to be there early, so he brought a sandwich, which later ended up saving a grad having a diabetic attack! - I am so very proud of my Bubyhubby & his accomplishments!”
ETA: The date appears on the LO that will come before this about what my parents & I did earlier in the day (went to the wax museum!).
