This portion of my grandfather's visual journal commemorates his time in World War II. Because I could not uses his actual metals and discharge papers, etc. I either photographed things or scanned them, then shrunk them to size and used different methods to attach them to the following 4 pages. I chose a collage method using wire, metal, mesh and other "rough" objects to symbolize the harshness of war yet I stayed with sepia and natural colors to unify the theme. I also distressed and antiqued everything throughout his journal to give it an overall aged appearance as he was turning 90 at the time.
