My DD, Sarah, modeling a dress handed down to her from my mother. Journaling is on pg 2.

I inked around the torn edges with three colors: Red, Rose, and Black. The letters and swirls are handcut. Vintage doll is cut out (from a WalMart pkg) and dress and stole are layered on. Then I put her on pop dots. The "T' is also on pop dots. The rose colored dots on the swirls were cut from paper then stuck to a pop dot, then I chalked around the edges of the pop dot. I also chalked the photo corners with black and the shoe with rose.

Journaling reads:My mother, Ruth, made this dress in the 1950’s. She saw it in a magazine and then just proceeded to make it – made her own pattern as she went. I never wore this dress (probably wouldn’t have if it had been offered – that wouldn’t have been stylish then), but my daughter, Sarah, who loves vintage clothing, loves the dress. She’s worn it on several occasions. The dress itself is very fitted with a separate three-tiered skirt with large covered buttons that goes over the bottom. The fabric is a beautiful flat black with an embossed design. The jacket that Sarah is wearing in these photos was the one my mother wore for her wedding day. The hat, gloves and pearls were also Mama’s. Sarah looks so beautiful in this and it fits like it was made for her. I’m so glad that she can “carry off” this look and enjoys wearing these things. Hopefully, she will one day have a daughter to hand this down to. ~~~ July 2006
