I like the paper and the matting and the page is very well balanced. You mentioned in your intro you'd like to start using some embellishments. I think this is a great layout to start small. Maybe you could just do 4 small brads in the corners of the journal box; or a patterned rub on or stamp above and below the journal box; or a ribbon wrapped around the photos with a charm hanging on it. You have a great eye for color and balance. The little details are easy to add. Welcome to the group!

The papers you chose compliment the photos so well! Great idea to scrap the history of something big from your home town!! Great layout!

Looks like a travel page.. so much to remember and so much to say, I think it just may be the photo because some of it is hard to see.. but it looks great.
