wow! I remember the invasion but it was sort of made fun of on the news, not funny at all. Though I am not a world traveler it is good to know there are places that still like Americans.
Oh my - I recall hearing about the conflict in Grenada all those years ago, but didn't follow it, so wasn't aware of the historical details. Thanks so much for sharing this info with us, Hon - I'm always happy to learn somthing new :)

This ancient fort is St George's Fort. It is on Grenada and is where Americans are MOST welcome. In the 1980s Cuba infiltrated Grenada with communists who tried to take the island for Cuba. They took the prime minister to this fort and told him to give them the island or die. He refused to give the island to communists and he and his family were shot here at the fort. The US sent in Marines to rescue student of ours at the college and also to set Grenada free. When many of the people see you are American they will say "Thank you for rescuing us" it is very touching.
