This was taken spring 2000 on the top of the Empire State Building. I used the grays and blacks to get the feel of buildings as well as the staggering pp strips to simulate a skyline. The red was simply a pop of color otherwise it would have been too stark.

The hidden journaling reads:
This photo was taken in the spring of 2000 at the top of the empire state building.
Funny thing happened on the way down. We had to go to the bathroom.
The bathrooms were on a separate floor from the lobby so we get on the elevators.
I start looking at these signs posted all over the elevator:

“Bathroom on third floor, if you exit from any other floor alarms will sound.”

Or something like that, well I notice that Danny was about to press 2.
I said no, and showed him the signs, he shrugged his shoulders pressed it anyway. Alarms go off.
We get off at 2 no baths, and then we go up to 3 and use the bathrooms. Alarms are going off the whole time.
Danny asks what is with the alarms. I point to the signs. He grins and says you told me that.
Next thing out of his mouth was, “follow my lead and act normal.”
So we go back the lobby, visit the gift shop acting like nothing happened and leave.
There were police cars and fire trucks everywhere. He says, “keep walking.”
We go about 3 more blocks then duck into a deli and ate.
Luckily this was before 9/11 or we would probably still be sitting in jail.
He listens to me now when I see a sign like that though.
