This layout was done for the first challenge for Groovy Doodles group.. The challenge was to doodle a 3 in. border. I made a flower border to go along with my layout and tried to achieve a fairytale theme. I used markers, colored pencils and chalk. The pictures are of a photo shoot of my dgd wearing a paper dress I made for a challenge a few months ago by Heidi(queen of paper). She only lasted about 5 minutes in the dress- she kept saying"it's scratchy!"lol I thought it would be fun to write a story based on her and the paper dress. The little book is tucked in to the layout. I'm no writer- but had so much fun writing this for her. TFL

Once upon a time…in the faraway land of Nil, there lived a beautiful Princess named Ally. She lived in a lavish castle with her kindhearted and loving grandmother Queen Irene. For many years hard times had fallen on the Kingdom of Nil. There was very little gold to be found. There was a shortage of food, clothing and all the daily necessities of life. One thing there wasn’t a shortage of was love. Queen Irene cherished and loved all of her loyal subjects and especially her darling grand daughter Ally. Even though times were hard Queen Irene was always looking for ways to keep everyone’s spirits up. Since spring was just around the corner the Queen was planning a fabulous Springtime Ball- and everyone in the Kingdom of Nil was invited. What a glorious affair it was to be! The Queen’s found herself with a delima. Princess Ally hadn’t had a new ball gown in years and there was no fabric in all the land. Poor Queen Irene- she so much wanted Princess Ally to have a beautiful new gown. She searched the castle high and low hoping to find something to use for the gown. After much searching all she found was some tissue paper, crepe paper, buttons and old silk flowers. After much thought and planning she spent days making the most beautiful Ball Gown in all the land. When the Queen presented Princess Ally with the dress she was thrilled. Never before had she seen such a beautiful gown. Finally the night of the Springtime Ball had come. The whole Kingdom was alive with anticipation. It was time for the beautiful Princess to dress. The gown fit her beautifully and she loved it! There was only one problem- because the dress was made out of paper it was so uncomfortable and scratchy. The Princess didn’t know how she could possibly wear this for the whole evening. She didn’t even know if she could dance! What was she to do? She thought, after grandmother went to so much trouble to make me a new gown, how could I not wear it? She would suffer through anything if need be. There was no way she would hurt her grandmother’s feelings by not wearing the dress. After much thought she decided- whatever it takes I will wear it! All of a sudden there was a bright flash of light. Princess Ally turned around to see a beautiful fairy that was surrounded by a frosty glow. The lady said to her “I am your fairy Godmother Gertrude. Because of your love for your Grandmother and your unselfishness and pure heart, I have come to change your dress from paper to beautiful silk. With the flick of her wand, it was done. Looking in the mirror, Princess Ally could not believe the beautiful dress she wore. She turned to thank her Fairy Godmother, and in a puff of smoke she was gone. Princess Ally was the belle of the Ball. But the biggest surprise of all was, not only did she get a new ball gown, but everyone in the kingdom was magically outfitted with a new set of clothing for the ball!
