In the summer of 2006 our library’s children’s program invited the Dixon Art Gallery in Memphis, Tennessee to have an art class and introduce the children to the works of George Rodrigue’s Blue Dog. The children were each given a blank canvas, pencils, paints and instructions to make ‘their own’ version of Blue Dog in any color doing anything that they wanted.. It was announced at the end of the art class that one person’s rendering from each library and local school would be chosen and placed on display in the gallery right next to George Rodrigue’s works. To our delight, Adrian’s RAPPIN’ DOG was selected! We couldn’t wait to go to the museum and see his art displayed.
