Mt. Chocorua has quite an interesting legend I thought would be interesting to include in this. It goes like this.. After losing his only son from an accidental poisoning an Indian Chief cursed the mountain before leaping to his death. The curse goes like this.. " A curse upon ye, White men! May the Great Spirit curse ye when he speaks in the clouds and his words are," Chocorua had a son and ye killed him while the sky looked bright, Lightning blast your crops! Wind and fire destroy your dwellings! The evil spirit breath upon your cattle! Your graves lie in the warpath of the Indian! Panthers howl and wolves fatten upon your bones! Chocorua goes to the Great Spirit but his curse stays with the White man!"Even to the present day people in Chocorua believe the curse. A chemical test was done on the water and found a harmful acid deathly to cattle and men.
