Journaling:
This year, I volunteered to make the noodles for Thanksgiving dinner on the Weston side. The pressure was on, as I was trying to make “Grandma’s noodles.” You were very intrigued at the sight of a big bowl, a rolling pin, and lots of flour spread out on the counter. How could a little boy resist? Of course you wanted to “help Mommy!” I rolled with the big rolling pin, and you used the little one. I cut the noodles and Daddy, you, and I worked on breaking them up to put on the pan. We had to keep an eye on you because you would decide to make a “ball” to throw on the pan. A few minutes into the process, you told us, “Having fun!” You loved it when I sprinkled flour over the noodles with my fingers. That was your favorite part and you delighted in spreading the flour over everything with your little fingers. A little while later, you declared (with a big smile) that you were “making a big mess!” Yes, it was indeed, a big mess. But what a fun mess and good memories! It looks like we will keep the family tradition alive. The noodles were a hit!
