That is quite a story and a wonderful tribute to your father. I love that you went to B&W for the photo.....it adds a certain strength to the subject. I like the way you used the three swirls to "frame" the main area. And the hidden journaling in the little "booklet" is marvelousl.
For the March Every Kid Should Challenge: learn about people with different abilities. This is a lo of my dad and my kids. My dad contracted polio while in the bush in a logging camp at the age of 18, and was told that he would never walk. Through sheer determination, he did walk, and did so with the aid of a leg brace and cane, then crutches until just a few years ago, when the falls and other health issues became too much and sent him into the wheelchair. My dad is a real character--a backwoodsy, down to earth guy. He's made some unfortunate choices in life, and it would be easy to judge him for them, but my kids adore him. The journaling under the tag describes how they care about each other, and the things they'll learn from him, such as courage, strength in adversity and the most important thing of all (according to Dad!) that a person can get through anything if they look at the humour in it. I decided to distress the heck out of the papers for fun(Dad would approve!), and when I did so, the colour photo looked really strange, so then I had fun playing around with the colour saturation on my photo editing program. TFL!
