I feel terrible for getting so far behind in your gallery...especially after reading your journaling on this layout ~ What an amazing, and fulfilling life you have led to this point! I'm so glad you scrapped your thoughts and experiences...it was so fun to read! Another heartwarming and innovative page for your book! I am certain your children will cherish this, and I am so very proud to call you my friend! :-)
I don't know where to begin. I am completely fascinated at all the exciting and adventurous things you have done. I've always wanted to go to Africa. I think it is such a beautiful place and unlike anywhere else in the world. I must say I'm a little green with envy of all the places you have traveled. How exciting. This is such a great idea to document/remember 40 momentous things in your life. I totally agree with RoseLaura that after reading this I feel like I have a zillion questions to ask you myself. I'm in total awe and you did this lo magnificently. This is going into my faves!!
I think I missed this one and I'm wondering how on earth I did!?? I could ask you a zillion questions after reading that list!! I WANT to ask you a zillion questions after reading that list!! Awesome page. And I keep hearing that 40 is the new 30, so you are all set!!!
Helen, you've certainly led a vey busy and productive life...way to follow your dreams! Forty's not so bad and this coming from someone who's looking back over her shoulder at it! Age is about your state of mind and has very little to do with a number. May your next 40 years be just as fulfilling as the first 40 and be all that you're dreaming of!
P.S. I was a Gramma at 40!!

Shortly I will be turning 40! Can this be? Is this the halfway mark? What a scary thought. I don't feel 40 and people tell me I don't look it. But oh! What a life I have had to this point. I have achieved so much that I set out to do and find my life to have been filled with much excitement and happiness without forgetting that little bit of pain thrown in for good measure.
Here are some of the most significant and memorable forty moments of my life so far (in no particular order):
1-I had a wonderful childhood full of fun, love and laughter 2-ducked and weaved in a helicopter over Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe 3-"triple thrillerd" in NZ - helicoper, white water rafted, jet boat 4-my Year 8 class and I receiving a letter from Nelson Mandela 5-appeared on "A Current Affair" when Hugh was a baby 6-lived in Papua New Guniea aged 11 7- took four tablets every day for a year due to TB contact 8-slept on a rustic boat deck on the Okavango River in Botswana 9-went shopping on the floating markets in Bangkok 10-walked around Ayres Rock 11-watched the sunset in five continents 12-travelled to every state in Australia 13-sipped cocktails in Tahiti 14-trekked across glaciers in New Zealand 15-thrived on a month bus trip throughout Europe 16-made the crossing across the perilous Irish Sea 17-rode a bicycle in Honolulu 18-became a revered school teacher and role model to many 19-taught all girls for some of the happiest years of my life 20-had a masai warrior claim my hair was precious like a lion's mane 21-married to my best friend and soul mate 22-gave birth naturally to two adorable children 23-cruised for a week down the Nile River, Egypt 24-was taken out to dinner by two US airforce boys in Mombasa, Kenya 25-thrilled at seeing the "big 5" in Africa 26-took in the view from Table Mountain Capetown, South Africa 27-had a monkey crawl onto and go to sleep in my lap in Zimbabwe 28-visited Karen Blixen's house in Nairobi, Kenya 29-lived and worked for almost two years in Namibia, Africa 30-fallen asleep to the beat of the African drum and protests of hippos 31-hitch hiked 200km to get food and water 32-fled Africa for fear of being assaulted 33-returned home to have counselling for not adjusting back to "normal life" 34-walked the golden mile Edinburgh, Scotland 35-completed a Bachelor of Education at Melbourne University 36-went swimming in the Okavango River surrounded by kids and crocs 37-celebrated Christmas in Venice, Italy and New Year's in Germany 38-met and married within six months of our first introduction 39-I was going to be the mother of all girls - I had a boy - and it is great 40-have spent seven happy years at home caring for my children
Looking back now I can hardly believe that I have done some of these things. But I am so happy and proud of what I set out to do and what I have accomplished in these forty years. I am sure the next forty will be just as memorable surrounded by the love of my precious family.
