"I wish that there was some way I could see into the future and know for sure that I've been doing an okay job raising my children. I want to see where they will be in 10 years and 20 years and know that I've taught them all that they will need to know in order to be happy and lead a successful life. I want to see if they will resent me for any of the things I said or did when they were young. Will they be confident and kind and good? Have my efforts been enough to get them where they need to be? I struggle every day to teach them the best way that I know how. I second guess myself and I am hard of myself when I'm too harsh or strict with them. I'm doing my very best. But I can't help but wonder if it's enough. My example is less than perfect, my temper isn't always calm and gentle, but my intentions are good and pure and motivated out of love and concern. I'm so grateful for my sweet husband who stands by my side and struggles right along with me. He is steady and constant and good. And I pray that my kids will always look to him and see his example over mine. But I'm also so grateful for my Heavenly Father who hasn't left this enormous task to my husband and myself alone. He has entrusted these children to our care and loves them as much as we do. He guides us in our parenting as often as we seek Him and I need to always remember that. As long as I am faithful, my children are in His hands. We're not doing this alone. We're not struggling in vain. We are learning to love and to trust and to be humble and admit that we need help. But we're not left alone in this business of parenting... I only wish I could always Remember that."
