Oh yes, those leaves are absolutely perfect! It's great when something works so well like that! And how nice you had such a great time - too bad it wasn't busier but made it a great day for you!
What a perfect template to do an event like this! I had a hard time because the sugaring season for maple syrup is right at the end of winter, but when you think of maple trees and syrup you don't think spring, and it's not fall. But these leaves of shaui's seemed just modern enough to be season neutral:)
Sled dogs, face painting, and maple sap straight from the bucket, yes I think the Hebron Maple Festival will become a yearly tradition. It was pouring rain on the first day of the festival, but your Dad had been looking forward to it since before me moved to Connecticut, so rain or shine we were going. And while the rain was very wet and a little annoying, there were some great benefits. Like not very many people came, so you got as many turns at the games, and all the free stuff you wanted. Plus, no one was using the free shuttle bus except us, so the driver was our own personal driver for the day and would wait outside every event. Nothing like being chauffeured around by a school bus! We had a great time with the Wolley family. And we all know now that it takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup."
